Understand that we are in the midst of the year (June and July), and in Gods timetable as a commission. Hab. 3:2-6 (KJV) (2) “O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. (3) God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. (4) And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power. (5) Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet. (6) He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.” God’s expectations for us is to stay spiritually awake in these times and seasons.
WHAT IS A REVIVAL?
- 1. IT IS A PLATFORM CREATED FOR DIVINE VISITATION, AND ORDAINED FOR SUPERNATURAL CHANGE OF POSITION FOR GOD’S PEOPLE; WHO CARE TO ENGAGE. Gen 28:16 (KJV) “And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not”. It is possible to be in the midst of a revival and not know it; this can happen when one is spiritually asleep and insensitive. There is therefore a call for spiritual awakening, to stay awake and maximize this season; a revival is a season of spiritual awakening for God’s people.
- 2. IT IS A PLATFORM FOR THE MANIFESTATION OF SIGNS, WONDERS AND DIVERSE MIRACLES. Acts 3:1-10 (KJV). A revival is the move of the spirit in the midst of his people. Acts 2:1-4 (KJV) (1) “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. (2) And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. (3) And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. (4) And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance”. Every revival must ignite fire on your prayer altar; everyone engaging in a revival is naturally moved to pray. A revival means fire burning in your bones, and its effect will always move you to prayer.
A revival season demands that we stay awake spiritually. it is a season that demands labor in prayer and soul winning. it is a season that should not be taken for granted.
- 3. IT IS A SEASON WHERE THE HEART OF MEN BEGIN TO PANT AFTER GOD, AND THE INTEREST OF HIS KINGDOM, LIKE NEVER BEFORE. Psalms 42:1-2 (KJV) (1) “As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. (2)My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God”. A revival will always make a man put the kingdom first, above all, in his prayers. 6:33 (KJV)”But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you”.
- 4. IT IS ALSO THE CELEBRATION OF GOD’S PRESENCE THAT CULMINATES IN DIVINE VISITATION, AMONG GOD’ S PEOPLE. 50:24-25 (KJV) (24) “And Joseph said unto his brethren, I die: and God will surely visit you, and bring you out of this land unto the land which he sware to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob. (25) And Joseph took an oath of the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you, and ye shall carry up my bones from hence”.
- IT IS A SEASON OF HEALING, DELIVERANCES AND MASSIVE SALVATION OF SOULS. Jn. 5:1-8 (KJV). Until you jump in, and plug into a revival season, you never maximize the season. when revival visits you, you become an agent of miracles. Acts 6:6-7 (KJV) (6) “Whom they set before the apostles: and when they had prayed, they laid their hands on them. (7) And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples multiplied in Jerusalem greatly; and a great company of the priests were obedient to the faith.”
- IT IS A SEASON WHERE WALKING IN THE FEAR OF GOD BECOMES OUR NEW WAY OF LIFE. Psalms 112:1 (KJV) “Praise ye the Lord. Blessed is the man that feareth the Lord, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.”
WHAT IS IN A REVIVAL FOR ME?
- 1. SUPERNATURAL CHANGE OF LEVELS IN LIFE AND DESTINY. 3:2-6, 17-19 (KJV) (2) “O Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O Lord, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy. (3)God came from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, and the earth was full of his praise. (4) And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power. (5)Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet. (6)He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting”. It is in a revival that everlasting mountains are leveled. Every revival launches the believer into higher heights, and subsequently, change of levels.
- 2. HEALING AND DELIVERANCE. Acts 3:1-7 (KJV) (1) “Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour. (2)And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple; (3) Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms. (4) And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. (5) And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. (6)Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk. (7) And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
However, some of the sicknesses that people suffer is as a result of iniquity. Psm 103:1-3 (KJV) (1) “ Bless the Lord, O my soul: and all that is within me, bless his holy name. (2) Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits: (3) Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases”. Until you are saved, you cannot be healed; affliction will always result from iniquity. Psm. 119:67 (KJV) “ Before I was afflicted I went astray: but now have I kept thy word”. The first thing that happens in a revival is the salvation of the souls of men. Psm. 107:17 (KJV) “ Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted”. It is after salvation that healing and restoration takes place. Obadiah 17 (KJV) “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions”.
HOW DOES GOD HEAL PEOPLE?
- 1. THROUGH HIS MERCIES – BY FIRST OF ALL FORGIVING OUR SINS. 103:3 (KJV) “Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases”. God heals us first by redeeming us from our sins, showing us his mercies and then bringing us restoration. Gal. 3:13-14 (KJV) “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: (14) That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith”.
- 2. BY EXPOSING HIS PEOPLE TO HIS PRESENCE. In the presence of God, anything is possible; this is because God’s presence creates an atmosphere that makes miracles cheap. John 5:1-9,Mark 2:1-5/8-12
- 3. THROUGH THE POWER IN THE NAME OF JESUS. Acts 3:4-6,12,16 (KJV) (4) “And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us. (5) And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. (6) Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.(12). No sickness stands the name of Jesus. Luke 10:17 (KJV) “And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name”.
- THROUGH YOUR RADICAL EXPECTATIONS. What you don’t expect, you don’t experience. Acts 3:4-6 (KJV) (4) “And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us (5) And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them. (6) Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk”. If your expectation is high, then your miracle will be high. Your expectation sets the pace for your manifestation. God is only attracted to your expectation; it is when you are looking for God that he comes intervening in your life. It takes expectation to set in motion your manifestation.
- THROUGH THE ANOINTING OIL. Isa. 10:27 (KJV) “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing”. There is a yoke destroying power in the anointing oil. Acts 10:38 (KJV) “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him”.
- THROUGH PHYSICAL APPEARANCE IN ZION (CHURCH). Oba 17 (KJV) “But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions”. Appearance in mount Zion makes for healing and deliverance. Psm 84:7 (KJV) “They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God”. Mount Zion (The church) is an accredited venue for healing and deliverances.
- THROUGH OUR VIOLENT FAITH. Mark 2:1-12. When faith is in place, miracle is cheap. Violent faith in the life of a believer will always attract instant healing.
- 8. THROUGH THE PREACHING OF THE WORD. 107:20 (KJV) “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions”. Word time is healing time and God’s word is God’s vehicle (or channel) that conveys God’s healing. Luke 5:17 (KJV) “And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them”. Wherever the word of healing is, the power to provoke healing is activated.
WHY THE WORD?
- a. GOD’S WORD IS MEDICINAL. 4:20-22 (KJV) (20) “ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings. (21) Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart. (22) For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh”.
- b. GOD’S WORD IS SURGICAL. 4:12 (KJV) “ For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart”. God’s word can repair any damaged organ or part of a man, it is a quickener. Jn. 6:63 (KJV) “It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life”.
- c. GOD’S WORD LIBERATES FROM OPPRESSIONS, AND DELIVERS. 107:20 (KJV) “He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions”. The more you have time for God’s word, the healthier you live.
