IS THERE NO BALM IN GILEAD? Part 5B

Pastor Chris Iyeke

God expects us to live the life that he has ordained for us-( total health and vitality). However, every sickness has a cause, one of which is ignorance. Isaiah 5:13 (KJV) – “Therefore my people are gone into captivity because they have no knowledge, and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst”.

Christianity is a religion of knowledge, what you don’t know is responsible for what you are suffering. Hosea 4:6 (KJV) – “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children”.

The day you start knowing the truth is the beginning of your freedom; the true test of knowledge is liberty. John 8:82 (KJV) – “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”. If you claim to know the things that it takes to be in health, and yet you are still sick, then you don’t know yet, as you ought to know.

Therefore, know that Jesus has paid the price for your total health and vitality, and has declared you free from all sickness, burdens, and diseases. Matthew 8:17 (KJV) – “That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses”.

First, we understand that by redemption, you have access to the joy of salvation.

Isaiah 53:4 (KJV) – “Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted”.

This joy is a fruit of the spirit, that you harvest from living a life, as a child of God. Galatians 5:22 (KJV) – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,”. Anybody can be happy, only believers can be joyful; joy is not what comes to you as a result of the circumstances around you, it is what comes to you as a result of your connectivity with the source of joy (which is God).

Joy is one of the balms in Gilead; as you cannot be joyful and not be healthy. Joyful people live healthy, buoyant, boisterous lives.

Secondly, Joy comes from the Holy Ghost; you cannot be baptized in the Holy Ghost, and not experience joy. Isaiah 61:3 (KJV) – “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, that he might be glorified”.

Thirdly, Joy is a product of revelation. You cannot encounter revelation, and not encounter joy. The more you keep hearing from God, the more your spirit and soul will be lifted. Prov 25:25 (KJV) – “As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country”.
