HOW DO I OVERCOME UNGODLINESS?

1. Keep the right company. 1Corithians 15:33 (KJV) “Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners”. If your friend is not taking you to heaven, don’t follow him/her to hell. Choose to rather go alone than have a bad friend.

Understand that who you company with, determines what accompanies you in life. Psalm 1:1-3 (KJV) (1) “Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful” (2) “But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night”. (3) “And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper”.

2. Fight the fight of faith. Ephesians 6:16 (KJV) “Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked”.
3. Flee from all appearances of evil. 2Samuel 13:1-22, 1Corithians 6:18 (KJV) “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body”.

BENEFITS OF GODLINESS

1. Godliness guarantees eternity with God. 1Corithians 6:9-11 (KJV) (9) “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind” (10) “Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.” (11) “And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” Revelation 21:8 (KJV) “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death”.

Godliness is profitable for the now (in reality), and even unto after death; that is, eternity. 1Timothy 4:8 (KJV) “For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having the promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come”.
