We are in the last days, where ungodliness is on the increase among men; hence we are expected as believers to watch our associations and stand out. 2Timothy 3:1-5 (KJV) (1) “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come”. (2) “For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy” (3) “Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good” (4) “Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;” (5) “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away”.

It is however, the knowledge of God that keeps you living as a God, even in this times. Daniel 11:32 (KJV)“And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.”

It is important for us to know that there are forces of ungodliness we are to contend with and overcome, in order to escape destruction. Some of these forces are;

  1. The Spirit of Disobedience

This spirit makes one argue with the commandments and instructions of scriptures. Deuteronomy 11:26-28 (KJV)(26) “Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;” (27) “A blessing, if ye obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you this day:” (28) “And a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of the Lord your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.”

The devil moves man against God to bring him under struggles, and under a curse; since he knows that it is obedience that brings man under God’s blessings. Obedience activates the Abrahamic covenant of blessings over man, while disobedience activates generational curses. Deuteronomy 28:1 (KJV) “And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the Lord thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the Lord thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth:”

We must however understand that Man is naturally a rebellious creature. Genesis 2:17 (KJV)“But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”, Genesis 3:6 (KJV) “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.”

You must also understand that obedience pleases God, and is a master key to your lifting. Jeremiah 7:23-24 (KJV)(23) “But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.” (24) “But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear, but walked in the counsels and in the imagination of their evil heart, and went backward, and not forward.”

This is why the devil pulls men under the spell of disobedience, thereby causing them not to make progress in life. It is therefore important for you, as a believer, to pray the spirit of obedience upon your life. Ezekiel 36:25-27 (KJV)(25) “Then will I sprinkle clean water upon you, and ye shall be clean: from all your filthiness, and from all your idols, will I cleanse you.” (26) “A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” (27) “And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.”

It is the Spirit of obedience that empowers you to obey God, promptly and without completely.

  1. The Lying Spirit

This spirit cuts one off from divine presence. Psalms 101:7 (KJV)“He that worketh deceit shall not dwell within my house: he that telleth lies shall not tarry in my sight.”
